  Duties and responsibilities:
They are pediatrics that consist of the medical care of the newborn babies. If the newborn is ill they are require special medication and treatment. Ilness such as low birth weight, intrauterine growth retardation, or birth asphyxias. Neonatologist are trained to handle the most complex and high risk situations. If your newborn is premature, or has a serious illness, injury, or birth defect, a neonatologist may assist at the time of delivery and in the subsequent care of your newborn.If a problem is identified before your baby is born, a neonatologist may become involved to consult with your obstetrician in your baby’s care during your pregnancy.


Salary: $197,042-$281,570

Education:
  • At least 4 years of medical school
  • 3 years of residency training in pediatrics
  • 3 years of additional training in newborn intensive care


Demands for this profession:  They have to have a  genuine passion for caring their patients. They need to learn how to treat a newborn baby. They have to be willing to work long hours to provide all the health care needed. They need to learn to work under pressure and stress.

Reflection: I my opinion i would like to become a neonatologist because it is a very interesting career to me and it can benefit me in alot of ways. I like to work with children and take care of them and it really would be a very good career to study.
