Student Success Statement

“Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and truly of no great use; a right heart exceeds all.”-Benjamin Franklin

I strongly agree with this quote because it is true if we have everything and don’t have a nice heart then you really don’t have anything.  For example if you have everything but have a bad attitude towards people then really don’t have anything because your friends wouldn’t want to be around you. Having a nice heart is way better than having everything else in the world because what’s the whole point of you having everything if you are going to have a nasty heart. What I mean is that people think they have everything but in reality they don’t because a nice heart is what really matters. If we have a nice heart then everything will come out good for us even though we don’t have the riches. There has been many occasions where believe having riches is way better than having  a nice hart but that isn’t true because they end up all alone. The reason they end up alone is because people don’t want to be around them because they have an ugly heart. If we want to be different then we have to have a nice heart because it will make us feel better about ourselves and people will notice we aren’t as shallow as they may believe.

“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches.”

This reflection means that it is better to have a good reputation than have all the money in the world. If we were asked to be interviewed they have all of our information but if we don’t have a great reputation they will think that we aren’t as qualified for the job. We get to choose who we want to be known as. We can be known as many things but we don’t want them to be bad because that makes other people think that we are bad people and that will be the way that people know who we are. Despite the fact that riches give you everything that really doesn’t buy you happiness or love etc. For example, before the brand new school that youre going to gets to know you they already know how you are because we have a reputation to people they get to see our records and if it’s all good then you get placed in a good class. Many people believe that money/riches is everything but it really isn’t because they really aren’t happy with what they have or how people see them. To have a good name towards the people is really good because we get all the good stuff like for example when we are bad and people think that we don’t get that much freedom as someone who has a good name because they get to have all the freedom they want. No matter how hard we try we will never be that satisfied with all the riches we might have because our name says it all.
